Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will carry Steam Deck Verified status right from launch, with the remaster arriving July 9.
The verification means the team has spent real development time making sure the game runs cleanly on handheld hardware, not just on desktop PCs. Ubisoft says the goal was consistency: Edward Kenway’s Caribbean should look and play the same whether someone’s docked at a monitor or gaming on the go with a Steam Deck.
That consistency extends beyond just performance tuning. The remaster brings raytracing to every platform it’s releasing on, along with an overhauled dynamic weather system built for modern hardware. The Caribbean itself has been rebuilt from scratch, rather than just upscaled from the original, giving the whole map a visual refresh that’s meant to hold up on both ends of the hardware spectrum, big rigs and small screens alike.
Steam-specific features are also part of the package. Players will get full support for Steam Achievements from day one, along with a set of Steam Collectibles, virtual trading cards, profile backgrounds, badges, and emoticons, all unlockable as soon as the game launches. It’s a small addition, but one that plugs the remaster more tightly into Steam’s ecosystem rather than treating it as a straight console port.
Black Flag was already one of the more atmospheric entries in the Assassin’s Creed catalog when it launched over a decade ago, built around open-water sailing, ship combat, and a Caribbean setting that leaned harder into pirate fantasy than swordplay. Resynced is Ubisoft’s attempt to bring that experience up to current technical standards without losing what made the original stand out, and Steam Deck compatibility signals the publisher wants that experience to travel with players rather than keep them tied to a desk.
Ubisoft is also running a pre-order incentive ahead of launch. Anyone who pre-orders Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced will receive the Blackbeard Crimson Pack, an exclusive bonus tied to the game’s most infamous pirate. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches July 9 on PC via Steam, with Steam Deck Verified support available at launch. Pre-orders are open now through Steam, with the Blackbeard Crimson Pack included as a limited-time bonus for early buyers. Other platforms include PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Ubisoft Connect, and Ubisoft+.
