Pirates VR: Jolly Roger, the first-person action-adventure from Incuvo, is expanding to Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3S on February 5, bringing its swashbuckling fantasy to a standalone VR audience for the first time.
Previously released on Steam and PlayStation VR, Pirates VR: Jolly Roger places players in the boots of a treasure-hunting pirate chasing the legendary fortune of Davy Jones. Set across a tropical island filled with beaches, cliffs, shipwrecks, and cavernous ruins, the game blends exploration, combat, and environmental puzzle-solving into a hands-on VR experience built around physical interaction.

Rather than relying on traditional button-driven mechanics, Pirates VR leans heavily into tactile immersion. Players manually reload flintlock pistols, light lanterns to navigate dark interiors, grab ziplines, and physically dodge traps by ducking, diving, or sidestepping in real space. Combat encounters against cursed pirates and undead skeletons are mixed with quieter moments of puzzle-solving and environmental discovery, reinforcing the rhythm of classic pirate adventure stories.
A loyal and sarcastic parrot companion also accompanies players throughout their journey, offering commentary and personality that helps anchor the experience beyond its combat encounters.
For Incuvo, the Quest launch represents another step in broadening its VR portfolio following titles like Green Hell VR and the recently released TRACKED: Shoot to Survive. According to CEO Andrzej Wychowaniec, the team saw Pirates VR as a chance to channel its experience with immersive systems into a more lighthearted, story-driven adventure inspired by the pirate tales many players grew up with.
Split Light Studio, which collaborated on the project, echoed that sentiment, pointing to the game’s prior reception on PC and PlayStation VR as a foundation for confidence heading into the Quest release. The Meta Quest version has been rebuilt and optimized specifically for standalone hardware, ensuring the experience translates smoothly without a PC or console.
With VR audiences continuing to grow on Quest, Pirates VR: Jolly Roger arrives at a time when shorter, focused adventure titles are finding renewed traction alongside larger, more demanding VR experiences. Its relatively modest price point, $14.99 at launch, with a 13% preorder discount bringing it down to $12.99, positions it as an approachable entry for players looking for a narrative-driven VR escape rather than a long-term commitment.
