Physical game publisher Super Rare Games has announced its partnership with Nitrome and Yacht Club Games to release the physical version of Shovel Knight Dig. The physical launch of Shovel Knight Dig is exclusively coming to Nintendo Switch and PS5 on January 8, 2025. Shovel Knight Dig was originally released digitally on Nintendo Switch, Steam, and Apple Arcade back in 2022; however, now with its physical release, the game is heading to your shelves for PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
The physical version of Shovel Knight Dig will launch exclusively through Super Rare Games’ official store online, with 4000 copies for Nintendo Switch and only 2500 copies for the PS5. All editions are Standard Editions and, like all previous releases, they will ship with the entire game content on the cartridge and will not require downloads from the internet at the start.
Shovel Knight Dig is a brand-new title in the Shovel Knight story, and takes story takes place when Drill Knight and his digging crew blast apart Shovel Knight’s campsite and steal his loot. To take revenge, Shovel Knight grabs his Shovel Blade and starts tunneling after them. This is the first Shovel Knight adventure in high-color pixel graphics and sound featuring fluid animation, scaling, rotation, and parallax. The levels are randomly generated every time using a proprietary generation technique, making their replayability high.
Super Rare Games is known for releasing some of the best physical versions of previously digital-only titles. Shovel Knight Dig will be their 146th title to come out physically since their studio started publishing limited edition physical versions. To secure your copy, you can head to their official website and pre-order right now. You can choose from the PS5 or Nintendo Switch versions, which are available for 27 and 31, respectively. You can also purchase a two-game bundle or a three-game bundle for PS5, in which you will get one or two next titles by Super Rare Games at a discounted price.
