Developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment have revealed the release date for their upcoming title, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando. John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is an 80s action-horror-inspired co-op shooter, and it will arrive on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, along with PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on March 12, 2026. The release date for John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando was announced during The Game Awards 2026, during which the publisher showcased a brand-new trailer that not only announced the release date but also gave us a brand-new look at the brutal gameplay that will be part of the game at its launch next year.
John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is set in the near future, where an experimental attempt to harness the power of the Earth’s core turns the soil to sludge and the living into undead monsters. The genius behind the experiment, Leon Dorsey, had a plan to set everything straight by hiring a team of highly trained mercenaries to get the job done; however, since everyone was too expensive for him, he ended up hiring the TOXIC COMMANDOS. You step into the game as one of the Toxic Commandos, with co-op support of up to four players, with crossplay support across PC and consoles.
Your goal is to hunt down and send the Sludge God and its horde of undead things back to the underworld as you drive across semi-open maps and tear everything that comes in your way. The game gives you a sweet ride to drive across the wastelands and access to an array of gunfire, grenades, special abilities, and even katanas for slashing the undead. Survival will depend on teamwork as hordes strike from every direction.
The game will feature two editions at launch: Standard Edition and the Blood Edition. The Blood Edition includes the base game and the Bloody Pass, which brings with it two post-launch DLCs, including unique skins for characters, weapons, and vehicles, and a golden Cosmetic Pack for weapons featuring a weapon charm and character skins. Pre-orders for John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando are now live across all platforms, and all pre-orders will receive the Leon’s Secret Stash DLC as a free pre-order bonus. You can also add it to your wishlist on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
