Ubisoft has announced that its highly popular tactical shooter Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is making its debut on next-gen consoles next month. Rainbow Six Siege was released back in 2015 and it is perhaps one of the live service games with the highest player count even after all this time. The game still receives regular seasons with new Operators joining the ever-expanding roster of the title.
The next-gen version of Rainbow Six Siege will release on PS5 and Xbox Series S and Series X consoles featuring 4K gameplay and up to 120 FPS super-silky gameplay. This will depend on the mode chosen by the players which will include a performance mode and a resolution mode. Apart from this, many other improvements have also found their way into the game and the best part is that players who own the PS4 or Xbox One version of the game will be able to upgrade to their next-gen console for free.
Along with this, all their progression and saved files will also move to the next generation for all players. This way, players will not lose any of their progress when they make the switch to the next generation. Cross-platform will also be available to all next-gen players allowing PS5 players to play with PS4 players and Xbox Series players to play with Xbox One players. However, cross-play between players of different platforms is not yet supported.
Key next-gen enhancements of Rainbow Six Siege will include:
- 4K resolution (PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X) / 1080p (Xbox Series S)
- 120 fps (PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X)
- DualSense™ wireless controller capabilities for even deeper immersion (PlayStation®5)
- Activities support for the most popular playlists so players can dive into the game faster (PlayStation®5)
Apart from this, additional features are also part of the next-gen release including:
- Better accessibility (readability options, text to speech, and speech to text)
- Quick start (optimized login flow, streamlined intro sequence)
- Ubisoft Connect overlay
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is slated for release on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles on December 1, 2020.
