Sega has revealed that Yakuza Kiwami is coming to Steam in the most creative way possible. The reveal date was hidden in the last frame of a GIF posted on the official Steam page of Yakuza Kiwami.
This was spotted by a user named prudis at Meta Council who posted the GIF, page link and the final frame in which the release date of the game was hidden. Yakuza Kiwami is the second Yakuza game to come to PC after Yakuza 0.
Even though Yakuza 0 came out much later in the franchise, it is actually the first part of the franchise when it comes to the story of the game so PC receiving Yakuza Kiwami after Yakuza 0 means that they are getting the title in the correct order of the story.
Yakuza Kiwami is the remastered version of the original title Yakuza released back in 2005 on PS2. Yakuza Kiwami features the same gripping story, expands on it and brings the unique combat mechanics back in stunning new HD detail on modern consoles and PC.
With Yakuza Kiwami coming to PC and Sega releasing Yakuza Kiwami 2 last year, we can expect that Sega plans to bring future titles on PC as well so that players are able to experience the entire franchise on PC. The franchise has 6 titles and a seventh title is apparently in development.
Yakuza 6 is the last game based on Yakuza’s trademark protagonist Kazuma Kiryu and the next title in the franchise will bring a new hero in the spotlight. We really hope that Sega brings the entire Kiryu’s journey on PC so that players who have played the first two titles get to experience the remaining titles as well.
