Ubisoft and Hamilton have revealed additional details about their partnership on Far Cry 6. As announced by both companies today, starting October 7, players will be able to wear the Limited-Edition Khaki Field Titanium Automatic virtually and physically in real life. Hamilton has announced that the virtual watch featured in Far Cry 6 will also be released physically for players to purchase and wear.
The Khaki Field Titanium Automatic featured in Far Cry 6 is special because it has been ticking through decades of instability in the fictional Caribbean Island of Yara. It even survived an assassination attempt on its former owner and ruler of the island Santos Espinosa in 1983. To honor the story of this survival, Hamilton will release only 1983 pieces of the special edition watch for purchase IRL.
In Far Cry 6, players jump in the shoes of Dani Rojas as they fight to free Yara ruled by the ruthless dictator Anton Castillo, played by actor Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, 2009-2011). Players will get access to the bespoke timepiece upon the competition of a guerrilla mission. Players who unlock the timepiece also unlock the unique and original ‘keep on ticking’ perk which improves general defense during sprints.
Omar Bouali, Game Content Director, Ubisoft Toronto said:
Hamilton’s Khaki Field isn’t merely an accessory choice or functional asset but is truly integrated into Yara’s history with a connection to the island’s deposed leader. It’s a small detail that adds immense authenticity to the cinematic world we’ve created.
The real-life version of Khaki Field Titanium Automatic is rugged, resilient, and reliable as it combines state-of-the-art functionality and military heritage. The watch is 42mm in size. It is surrounded by a brushed titanium case and has a black vinyl dial which features a matte center and a split ‘6’ marker which is a reference to the game logo’s typography.
A revolutionary red seconds hand is a nod to the game colors which is chosen as a tribute to Yara’s guerillas. It is paired with a brown leather NATO strap and each watch also comes with an additional brown nubuck leather strap and changing tool to represent the do-it-yourself ‘Resolver’ spirit that is critical for players to embrace. Hamilton CEO Vivian Stauffer also said:
We know from experience that designing a prop watch for the screen doesn’t always immediately translate to a real-world product. It made the idea of someone wearing this limited-edition piece while also using it as wrist gear in-game an extremely exciting prospect and we can’t wait to see it in action.
Far Cry 6 is slated for release on October 7, 2021, on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, and PC.
