Spaceship Rougelike This Means Warp Gets First Early Access Update

This Means Warp Update

Outlier Games has launched the first Early Access Update for its spaceship roguelike game, This Means Warp. The update brings in new game modes, advanced difficulty setting, and new enemies and missions.

The game was originally planned for a release in early 2022, as announced when the game concluded its beta last year in 2021. However, a release date has not been announced for 2022.

The first update revolves around the game’s replayability, with the new game mode scenarios unlock curated experiences that will change the gameplay with different rules in each new run. Each completed scenario will then unlock the next, all the way up to the Custom Mode where you can edit the variables yourself and create your own challenges.

For players who complete the game on hard difficulty, you will then unlock the Nightmare difficulty, the first of an escalating scale of Nightmare modes designed to be played until they are no longer beatable. It features progressively more powerful enemies and harder all-around gameplay.

The update also brought in a few changes to crew experiences, where crew members can increase their stats after a run, and a few new enemies and mission types to add to the variety.

Technical director and co-founder of Outlier Games Paul Froggatt had this to say about the Early Access update of This Means Warp,

We’ve been blown away by the positive reception for This Means Warp since its early access launch last month. We see this first update as a way of delivering on the promise of the game to our growing community, by providing more variety and more ways to play the game while we continue to work on the long term roadmap. We can’t wait to show them what we’ve been working on and prove our commitment to making This Means Warp a truly community driven game, where players are involved in guiding it’s development every step of the way.
