Developer and publisher Introversion Software has announced their brand-new project The Last Starship slated for an early access release in 2023. Introversion Software is known for its previous project Prison Architect and now the developer is exploring a new frontier with its latest project. The Last Starship will allow you to build the starship of your dreams and discover the unknown in space as you explore uncharted space. The developer has released a brand-new trailer for The Last Starship to showcase the game which we have linked below:
In The Last Starship, you will pick a ship hull, and prepare it for interstellar travel. You will install engines, life support, sensors, and rail guns to see how it fairs out on a galactic battlefield. As the captain of the ship, you will need to make critical choices in order to watch out for your ship and your crew whether you are pulling together an asteroid mining operation, rescuing civilians from an engine failure, or picking a fight with the pirates of the galaxy. As you assemble your ship, you will have an entire crew at your service who will be willing to do whatever you tell them to do.
As you continue to build your ship, you will be required to manage your crew, explore new areas, engage in real-time combat, and more because the more you explore, the more resources you will find and the better the parts you will be able to acquire for your ship. Progression is vital to exploration and exploration will allow you to upgrade your basic parts to better ones as you build advanced weapon systems, mining lasers, and other various add-ons for yourself. Key features of The Last Starship include:
- Equip Your Ship: Let your imagination run free by designing a starship and equipping it with life-saving technology to protect the crew onboard.
- Explore the Universe: The only way to know if a ship’s design is good is to test it out. The sector map is the gateway to a procedurally generated universe. Each system has different missions, scenarios, and anomalies for the player to explore.
- Process Resources: Space is cold, dark, and empty. To survive, the crew will need resources such as water, oxygen, fuel, and materials for building more ships.
- Engage the Enemy: Take complete control over where to install your weapons. The game’s unique combat system will have the player strategically thinking on and off the battlefield.
- Grow Your Fleet: As the starship grows, so will the requirements to keep everyone alive. You’ll need to not only expand your current starship but design different ships with different capabilities to keep trekking through deep space.
