Developer Slipgate Ironworks and publisher Knights Peak have announced that Tempest Rising players can now try the opening chapter of the game’s upcoming third faction, Veti, thanks to a new Steam demo released for Steam TactiCon.
The demo gives players access to the first two missions from the Veti campaign, offering an early look at the expansion arriving later this year. It also includes the opening two missions from the existing Global Defense Force and Tempest Dynasty campaigns, giving newcomers a chance to experience all three factions.
The Veti are designed around a unique playstyle that allows them to subjugate and sacrifice defeated enemies to strengthen their forces. The new faction will also be available outside of the campaign through Skirmish mode and custom multiplayer matches, both in the demo and the full game.
The full Veti experience will arrive later this year as part of The Veti’s Wrath expansion. It will add an 11-mission single-player campaign while integrating the faction into multiplayer, Skirmish, and custom games. The expansion concludes Tempest Rising’s story as the ancient Veti attempt to reclaim their former world and wage war against humanity.
Released earlier this year, Tempest Rising is a classic-inspired real-time strategy game set in an alternate 1997 where the Cuban Missile Crisis escalated into nuclear war. It features base building, asymmetrical factions, single-player campaigns, competitive multiplayer, and Skirmish mode.
The new Tempest Rising Steam TactiCon demo is available now on Steam, while The Veti’s Wrath expansion is scheduled to launch later this year. Tempest Rising is currently available on PC via Steam. The full game is also offering a 30% discount for a limited time.
