Switchblade is now Free-To-Play on PlayStation 4 and PC

Switchblade

Lucid Games has announced that their team based vehicle action game Switchblade is available now for players to download for free on the PlayStation 4 and PC. The vehicular MOBA is now free just five months after its launch.

Switch blade was announced last year in August onto Steam Early Access. The game did not gather much of an audience, despite of getting positive player review ratings on the steam page, and big price cuts.

With the new decision of making it free on the PlayStation 4 and PC, Lucid Games hopes that this will improve with the volume of the community feedback as they work towards the game’s full release.

Our main ambition for opening Switchblade up to the wider public by going Free to Play is to grow the user base as much as possible for the benefit of the game and the community. Not only do we hope that more people will discover Switchblade and decide to join us on this journey of creating an action-packed MOBA, but we also hope to broaden the feedback we receive from our fans to keep refining Switchblade all the way up to its full release out of Early Access, and beyond!

Take a look at the trailer to get a taste of what the this action packed vehicle game is all about.

The game seems two teams battling each other in a frantic 5v5 arena-based battle, as they work together in a carefully selected heavily armed sci-fi vehicles, to destroy the enemy base. There are many different vehicles with their own special role and ability that players can chose from in the battlefield.  There are many tactical choices that can be made in selecting the type of vehicle you want for your playstyle.

In the announcement, Lucid also noted that it will routinely deliver patches around twice a month for the game.

The team is hoping that this will be the balance between effective workflow and meeting deadlines whilst not sacrificing the quality you’ve come to expect from us. Having said that, we’ll soon be updating our game engine to the latest version of Unreal which might cause a slight delay in the delivery of future patches. It’s not ideally timed, however, its an important step for us internally to ensure that we can take advantage of the latest features as well as security and stability updates.
