Spike Volleyball is a simulation oriented volleyball game which features hyper realistic player movements in the game. The reason behind this highly realistic movement is using motion capture to copy real world player movements to the video game.
Bigben and Black Sheep have recently released two separate motion capture videos which show the secret behind the developer’s success of implementing the most realistic player movements and gameplay ever seen in any sports video game.
These videos focus on spike and serve which are two very important actions in any volleyball game. To ensure that the game is as realistic as possible, several motion capture sessions were held with real players.
Professional players were called in for these sessions in which each player had over 50 sensors over their bodies which captured their every move, their timing and most importantly, their technique. You can check out both videos below.

As you can see in both the videos that a lot of work has gone to ensure that the final product is as close to the real world as possible. Each player in the game is the representation of a real world professional player. Every movement, every move and every technique in the game is highly realistic thanks to the motion capture.
Spike Volleyball is the world’s first indoor volleyball simulation video game. 50 national teams are featured in the game which are from both men and women categories. Players will choose their favorite team and go head to head with other teams in a very realistic simulation of the indoor volleyball.
Players will need to use their speed, lightning fast reflexes, teamwork and all other elements which are required for success in Spike Volleyball if they want to win.
Spike Volleyball is coming out on PS4, Xbox One and PC via Steam on February 5, 2019.
