Monster Hunter Outlanders Begins Second Closed Beta Test With New Adventurers and Radiant Monsters

Monster Hunter Outlanders Closed Beta

TiMi Studio Group has launched the second closed beta test for Monster Hunter Outlanders, the upcoming mobile action RPG based on Capcom’s long-running Monster Hunter series. The new test introduces additional characters, expanded monster encounters, and new systems tied to exploration and co-op hunting across the original continent of Aesoland.

Designed as a mobile-focused entry in the franchise, Monster Hunter Outlanders aims to preserve the core hunting loop of the mainline series while adapting it for portable play. Players explore large open environments, gather resources, craft equipment, and take on monster hunts either solo or in co-op groups of up to four players. The second beta offers a broader look at these systems while allowing testers to shape development ahead of launch.

CBT2 Key Details

  • Start Time: April 28 at 19:00 PDT / April 29 at 04:00 CEST
  • Available Regions: Mainland China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom
  • Supported Languages: English, Simplified Chinese, Japanese, German, Spanish (LATAM)

One of the biggest additions in CBT2 is a new roster of playable Adventurers built around three distinct combat roles, giving hunts a stronger class-based structure while still using familiar Monster Hunter weapon types.

New Adventurer Roles

Assault (High Damage Dealers)

  • Midori (Long Sword): Uses a shamisen-concealed blade and focuses on evasive counters and quick retaliation, turning enemy aggression into damage opportunities.
  • Pyro (Great Sword): A frontline heavy hitter built around aggressive offense and charged finishers designed for direct confrontations.

Disruptor (Debuffs and Monster Control)

  • Pepper (Heavy Bowgun): Uses mobility and aerial attacks to interrupt monsters, with an Ultimate that slows enemies and disrupts attacks.
  • Keres (Dual Blades): Focuses on fast, relentless combo pressure designed to overwhelm monsters through sustained aggression.

Support (Healing and Team Buffs)

  • Madelyn (Bow): Applies spores with ranged attacks that build toward powerful detonations, while her Ultimate boosts the offensive potential of the full team.

The beta also introduces Radiant Monsters, a new variant system tied to a mysterious substance found on Aesoland. These enhanced creatures become more aggressive and can enter frenzied states during hunts, adding extra difficulty for experienced players.

New Radiant Monsters in CBT2

  • Radiant Diablos
  • Radiant Anjanath
  • Radiant Barroth
  • Radiant Rathian
  • Radiant Pukei-Pukei

Returning standard monsters include Diablos, Rathian, Anjanath, Paolumu, Great Jagras, and Tobi-Kadachi, among others.

Aesoland itself is a major focus of the beta, serving as a new continent created specifically for Outlanders. Regions such as the Giantwood Locale and the Searing Plains feature different climates, resources, and traversal challenges. Players can build temporary field facilities and craft survival tools while exploring, pushing the game further toward open-world progression than traditional hub-based hunting.

The companion system has also expanded beyond the traditional Palico. New Buddies include Rutaco for Disruptor characters and Trillan for Support characters, each offering different combat synergies and upgrade paths depending on the player’s chosen role.

Monster Hunter Outlanders is currently in development for both iOS and Android devices. A confirmed release date will be revealed at a later date. So far, there is no confirmation about a potential console and PC release, as the developers are busy with mobile development.
