Sony Skipping E3 Again, Xbox Confirms E3 2020 Attendance

Sony Xbox E3

Sony has just announced in a statement that it will not be a part of E3 2020 this year, despite its PlayStation 5 console just months away from being revealed and to be released later this year. The company has decided to skip E3 again for a second consecutive time after it skipped last year’s event as well.

We would have expected Sony to come out big in revealing its upcoming PlayStation 5 console at the biggest gaming convention held every year. However, that may not be the case anymore. In a statement released by Sony, the company has stated,

After thorough evaluation, SIE has decided not to participate in E3 2020. We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year.

We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe. Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favorite content. We have a fantastic line up of titles coming to PlayStation 4, and with the upcoming launch of PlayStation 5, we are truly looking forward to a year of celebration with our fans.

On the other hand, Xbox has confirmed that the company will be attending E3 2020. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has confirmed that the company will be part of the event which will show off much of what is to come for its Xbox Series X console that was revealed at The Game Awards last year.

Our team is hard at work on E3, we look forward to sharing with all who love to play what’s ahead for us. Our artform has consistently been propelled by the cross-section of creativity and technical progress. 2020 is a milestone year in that journey for Team Xbox. #XboxE3 #E32020

While the tweet does not mention any specifics of what will be shown, Spencer does say that the team is working hard for the event. We can only expect more news of the new Xbox console and quite possibly a few launch titles as well.
