Ska Studios and Devoured Studios have shared a brand-new trailer from their upcoming soulslike platformer Salt and Sacrifice. Salt and Sacrifice is the next installment in the Salt and Sanctuary series which sold over a million copies when it was released. The latest trailer for Salt and Sacrifice was shared during the MIX Next 2021 indie game showcase and it features crafting and online co-op.

One of the major enemies in Salt and Sacrifice will be Mages and your goal as the marked inquisitor in the game is to pursue these corrupted souls and kill them. Each of these Mages releases their minions to keep you at bay and you must fight their minions and defeat the Mage in order to destroy their hearts and plunder their remains. These Mage Hunts take place in areas that you have already explored in the game and each of the Mage in the game is unique.
Once you have collected enough parts, you can head back to the Inquisitor Base Camp to craft various useful items for yourself such as a new coat, daggers, crossbow, and even more. These new items will help you take down even more mages in the world of Salt and Sacrifice. You can also join the worlds of other players to experience the title in co-op. To join another player’s world, you will need a Pale Candle.
With co-op, you can combine your build and your co-op friend’s build to compliment each other and help each other defeat the different bosses in the game. The game encourages that you have your own build and make your own strategies to take down various enemies in the game. Key features of the game include:
- Engage in a deadly game of predator and prey as a Marked Inquisitor sentenced to exterminate rogue Mages
- Repurpose the eldritch remains of defeated Mages by crafting unique equipment with powerful abilities
- Join comrades-in-arms online for cooperative Mage Hunts and PvP to showcase your hard-earned gear on and off the battlefield
Salt and Sacrifice was announced back at Summer Game Fest: Kickoff Live! 2021, and it is slated for release on PS5, PS4, and Epic Games Store in 2022. A confirmed release date is not yet known for the title.
