Id Software and Avalanche Studios have announced that the first expansion for Rage 2, Rise of the Ghosts, has been pushed into September. The expansion was originally coming out in August but it seems like we will have to wait a little more to get the story expansion. Rise of the Ghosts is the first of 2 story expansions planned for Rage 2.
Rise of the Ghosts was announced back at E3 2019 when Bethesda revealed that the expansion will come out in August on all platforms. The new expansion will add a brand new storyline to the game, new areas, new weapons and gear for the player. This is seemingly the biggest addition to Rage 2 since its release. Rise of the Ghosts will feature a brand new faction on which the story is based.
This was announced by Bethesda on the official Rage 2 Twitter account where they detailed the Update 2 which is now live for Rage 2. The new update adds New Game + along with Ironman mode and Ultra Nightmare Difficulty. Two brand new cheats are now live in the game as well. Along with this, a brand new voice pack featuring BJ. Blazkowicz from Wolfenstein franchise is now part of the game.

The second expansion for Rage 2 is planned for November which is way deep in Borderlands 3 and Gears 5 territory. We also have Death Stranding coming out in November. Rise of the Ghosts is going to be a crucial point for Rage 2 because most of the fans of the RPG genre are getting ready for Borderlands 3 and since Rage 2 seriously lacked endgame content, most of the people have already moved to other games.
