Capcom just hosted the Resident Evil Village Showcase event which revealed the release date for the game, the PlayStation 5 demo, and a few multiplayer details for the upcoming survival horror game.
Starting with the release date, Capcom confirmed that the game is set for May 7, 2021, on both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. If you missed the event, you can watch the full Resident Evil Village showcase below:
The upcoming title, which we know is a confirmed sequel to Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, returns with the protagonist Ethan Winters looking for his kidnapped daughter. Players will accompany Ethan in the village with the mysterious castle shown in the gameplay footage.
However, the highlight of the trailer is the tall woman in the white dress and the big hat she wears elegantly on her head. She occupies the castle with the other three ladies which can also be seen in the video. A blog post by Kellen Haney, the associate manager of social media at Capcom confirmed that the woman in white is called Lady Dimitrescu.
In addition to the gameplay details, Capcom also announced the stand-alone demo for Resident Evil Village called Maiden, which is available for download right now on the PlayStation 5 only. According to the producer of the game, Peter Fabiano, you do not play as Ethan Winters in the game, but a character called the maiden who is looking to escape the castle. The demo is not a part of the game but is a good experience in the world of Resident Evil Village.
Maiden is not the name of any person, but instead, it symbolizes the protagonist, a girl who’s trapped in Dimitrescu Castle. The Maiden demo doesn’t take place during the main story of Resident Evil Village. Maiden was originally designed as a visual demo that would allow you to explore the inside of Dimitrescu Castle, but it evolved to include a short story and puzzle-solving.
