Project Warlock II Kickstarter Announced for June 29, Early Access Release Next Month

Project Warlock II

Buckshot Software officially revealed the sequel to Project Warlock, Project Warlock II, during E3 2021 and its Kickstarter is going live later this month with a release slated for next month. The action-packed sequel’s Kickstarter campaign will go live on June 29, 2021, whereas the game will release in Early Access on PC via Steam and GoG Games in Development on July 29, 2021.

The game builds on the success of the first title as it brings sprawling levels, demonic hordes, and completely revamped visuals. The sequel will bring back the retro-action-indie franchise to life including all the bullets, beasts, and battles that the fans of the first title loved. Project Warlock II will also feature a new story, powers, weapons, and more. Check out the official announcement trailer for Project Warlock II below:

Project Warlock II features retro non-stop shooting and blood-spattered pixels flying everywhere. You will be shooting demons while listening to epic rock and synth soundtrack as a fully, new atmospheric sound design ensures that you get the best of all the worlds. The developer claims that Project Warlock II is looking more at Quake rather than the first title that was looking at Doom as its main inspiration.

The story of the game picks up right where the first game ended. It features three explosive episodes and three playable Warlock characters Palmer, Urd and Kirsten. All three of them are disciples of Warlock from the original title. With their master now gone and nowhere to be found, the Disciples of Warlock have set out to investigate the demonic invasion that has shook the very foundations of their realms.

Each level in the game is filled with demonic hordes with bosses hulking in the darkness. Players will find more secrets, upgrades, pickups, jumping, strafing, and trigger-happy action in the sequel. The major areas of the original Project Warlock are getting significant overhauls. The developer has detailed some of them and we have listed them below for you. Check them out:

  • Magic – PWII’s magic is a reinterpreted system where each of the Warlocks will have their own dedicated set of skills operating on cooldowns to support gun or magic-play.
  • Weapons – Each of the Warlocks carries a different arsenal based on their personas with branching upgrades resulting in 20+ weapons for each of the Warlocks.
  • Monsters – Adding another layer to the behavior of monsters results in them now jumping, running, holding back when needed, hopping, spinning, and using each of the different attacks as needed.
  • Visuals – Total overhaul of the visuals resulting in sprites that now have 8 sides to PW’s 2. That’s literally twice as much. Talk about value.
  • Verticality – Literally adding more room to the levels as per players’ feedback Project Warlock II offers huge, sprawling, and multi-leveled areas that are 5-6 times bigger than any of the levels of the first game. The addition of the oft-requested verticality means one level can be five stories worth of vertigo-inducing footbridges, ledges, and floors.
  • Saves – Unlike the first game Project Warlock II now has every imaginable save feature including quicksave, manual save, and autosave.

A Steam page for Project Warlock II is now live and you can add the game to your Wishlist to follow up on all announcements. After the Kickstarter campaign, the developers will release the title in Early Access on both Steam and GoG next month, so you do not have to wait a long time in order to jump in Project Warlock II.
