In a recent report by Nikkei, it was revealed that Nintendo is planning to start development on a portable Nintendo Switch. The next Nintendo Switch will be more portable focused than the current version of the console.
In the report, the new Nintendo Switch console will be less expensive and will be much smaller than the current version. The new version might not include detachable Joy-Cons and most probably it will not come with the Dock right out of the box.
Earlier, we reported that Nintendo was indeed planning to launch a smaller and more portable version which could be much like PS Vita in form factor as both Joy-Cons will be built in console and it will not have a dock with it.
Although this new version will be fully compatible with the Dock and Joy-Cons if purchased separately. According to Nikkei’s report, the new Nintendo Switch is expected to release this year. The report also mentions that Nintendo has already informed component suppliers about the new console.
Apart from launching a new console in 2019, Nintendo also plans to make Nintendo Switch Online better with more services offered to players. No further details have been revealed on Nintendo’s Switch Online plans apart from this at this point however. We will surely update you guys if something else comes up on this.
Coming back to the Portable Nintendo Switch console, it is a big confusion among the gaming community that the current Nintendo Switch is just as portable as any other portable console however what Nintendo wants is a single form factor portable console with no dock in the box.
This will greatly reduce the production price for the console and ultimately give consumers a product which is much cheaper as well. Nintendo Switch was down to $200 back on Christmas sales and others which is already pretty cheap considering the factor of how much value it packs.
