Nintendo held a Pokémon Direct today which was focused entirely on Pokémon Sword and Shield details and we finally got to know the release date of the title as well. Before E3, this Direct stream was a heaven for all Pokémon lovers as it included some pretty decent information about Game Freak’s upcoming Pokémon RPG Pokémon Sword and Shield. Similar to Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! this will come with two different variants.
Revealed today during the Pokémon Sword and Shield Direct was a brand new trailer for the game which revealed some brand new mechanics which are coming in the new game. Along with the new features, we also got a release date for the title which the fans would love to hear as they do not have to wait too long to jump in this brand new Pokémon adventure. Another brand new addition to the game is coop raids which will allow four trainers to team up together to take down Pokémon.
Pokémon Sword and Shield will have huge stadiums for battles and this hugeness is not there just for show. This comes in handy for the latest mechanic to arrive in the game which is called Dynamax which allows Pokémon to create gigantic holographic renditions of themselves and they also get a massive boost in their powers in this mode. To take down these massive Pokémon, players can join in hands with four other players which is the coop feature of the game.
The coop Raids are called Max Raid battles. While these Raids can be completed solo, inviting some friends over will definitely help you to complete the Raids and capture some of the rarest Pokémon. The game supports up to four player coop so you and three other friends can join in the fun and capture some of the rarest Pokémon in the Galar region together. Apart from AI, you also have the option to Dynamax your own Pokémon giving them Z-moves for three turns.
Apart from these new mechanics, the brand new trailer also showed us some of the new Pokémon that are coming to the game. These include the never before seen Wooloo and Gossifleur which are normal type and grass type Pokémon. We also got to see Corviknight which is a huge black bird which can transport people from one town to another. Zacian and Zamazenta are a pair of Pokémon which are also present in the game representing the theme of the game.
Apart from these major information reveals, nothing much was announced during today’s presentation. We are hoping that Nintendo will reveal more information about the game during the E3 next week. Nintendo revealed Pokémon Sword and Shield back in February 2019 and during that time we only got a glimpse of the brand new Galar region in which the game is set in and no release date was announced back then.
Pokémon Sword and Shield is releasing later this year on November 15, 2019, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
