Publisher Thunderful and developer Wishfully have announced the release date of their upcoming cinematic puzzle adventure Planet of Lana. Planet of Lana will be released on May 23, 2023, on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Windows Store. Apart from its release in stores, fans will be delighted to know that Planet of Lana will also be available on Xbox Game Pass for all subscribers day one. To celebrate the announcement, the developers have released a brand-new trailer for the game showcasing even more of the game’s beautiful world. Check it out below:
So far, Planet of Lana has appeared in over 40 ‘most anticipated’ lists including many of the top gaming journalism outlets, and in recent years, Planet of Lana has managed to become one of the most hyped video games. It has mainly drawn attention because of its stunning art style, the rousing soundtrack from D.I.C.E., and BAFTA-nominated composer Takeshi Furukawa along with unique companion-based mechanics. After much wait and anticipation, we now finally have a release date for Planet of Lana, and we cannot wait to jump into it.
Planet of Lana is set on an alien planet, and it tells the story of Lana and her loyal animal companion Mui as they set on a rescue mission to save her sister. The game blends an epic story that takes you on a spectacular journey across stunning landscapes with a touching personal relationship built between Lana and Mui. You will encounter strange creatures and dangerous machines as you explore lush forests, mysterious caves, and arid desert landscapes during your journey.
The gameplay is a mix of daring platforming, engaging puzzles, and tense stealth sequences as you will discover a game built around the unique companion mechanic that connects Lana and Mui. Both of them will need to work in tandem as you solve puzzles and avoid the dangers in your path. The enemies will range from stalking spindle-legged robot menaces that have landed on Lana’s planet to local fauna that populate the game’s environments. Wishfully director Adam Stjärnljus comments:
