Nintendo has announced the first Partner Direct of 2026, for February 5, 2025, at 6 AM PT. This is not the first Direct of this year by Nintendo, as a previously held Direct showcased the upcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and it was a pleasant surprise for the viewers as it pushed forward the release date of the movie. Nintendo’s normal approach is to announce upcoming video game releases during its Direct streams, but this time around, it was a movie.
While many titles will participate in the upcoming direct and most of them are a secret at this point, one of the titles in the stream might be the recently announced The Disney Afternoon Collection for Nintendo Switch 1 and Nintendo Switch 2. This updated collection features 2 additional SNES titles, Bonkers and Goof Troop, apart from the original collection of DuckTales, DuckTales 2, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2, TaleSpin, and Darkwing Duck.

The news of the Nintendo Partner Direct comes straight from its own Twitter post, where the publisher has announced 30-minutes of upcoming titles for both Nintendo Switch 1 and Nintendo Switch 2. The stream will be presented across all of Nintendo’s channels. It is safe to say that these will be third-party titles because Partner Direct focuses on third-party games and not first-party games. For some time, Nintendo has been holding game-specific Directs, which dive deep into a particular title rather than announcing a lot of games in the same stream.
Nintendo is currently fully supporting Nintendo Switch 1, despite it being much older at this point. This has not stopped both first-party and third-party developers from releasing games for both consoles. Different features ensure that players can play similar titles on both consoles and with each other as well, using cross-console support with saved files, account sharing, and more. With the same Nintendo Switch Online account, players get to enjoy the best of both worlds if they own both consoles.
