MSI Officially Announces RTX 2080 (Ti) Sea Hawk Series

MSI has officially announced its lineup in GeForce RTX 2080 series. The Sea Hawk series will come bundled with a lot of features for RTX 2080 and 2080 Ti. Lets dive into details.

The Sea Hawk series will come in liquid cooling as well as AIO hybrid cooling solution. Sea Hawk EK X series will come with the prior option and while Sea Hawk X will feature the later. A total of four models will be released.

The fastest of MSI Sea Hawk species will be RTX 2080 Ti Sea Hawk X Series. It will come with boost clock of 1755 MHz. Comparatively, it will be 210 MHz higher than reference specification and 120 MHz higher than Founders edition. But all that extra power will cost 50W more. RTX 2080 Ti Sea Hawk X will need 300W TDP.

Specification wise, RTX 2080 Ti Sea Hawk EK X will have 8 pin power connectors and one 6 pin power connector. However, the X only series will come with pair of 8 pin power connectors. Since both have different power pin connector configuration, we speculate different PCB in both of graphics cards.

Other than that, RTX 2080 Sea Hawk EK X and X series are totally different. Both feature pair of 8 pin power connectors. 1860MHz boost clock. The slight difference is in the TDP. RTX 2080 Sea Hawk X needs 245 TDP, while the EK X series needs 260W TDP.

Back at SIGGRAPH event, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang praised the potential of real-time ray tracing. He further said:

Hybrid rendering will change the industry, opening up amazing possibilities that enhance our lives with more beautiful designs, richer entertainment and more interactive experiences. The arrival of real-time ray tracing is the Holy Grail of our industry.
