Indie game developer, musician, and debut book author Niklas Hallin and publisher Burning Planet have announced their new project Molly Medusa: Queen of Spit. Molly Medusa: Queen of Spit is a gravity-bending 3D adventure where everyone turns to stone, and it is currently in development for Nintendo Switch. Burning Planet comprises Max Malmquist and Karl Rosqvist, who both have a long background in punk rock/metal bands such as Danzig, Junk Stars, and Michael Monroe.
The solo game developer Niklas Hallin is not new when it comes to video games as he previously released titles such as Belladonna and Yono And The Celestial Elephants. The latest title Molly Medusa: Queen of Spit features Molly who used to be a sculptor’s apprentice. She was cursed causing her to turn into a snake-haired medusa and now every time she goes near a living thing, it turns into a stone statue. This includes all enemies, friends, animals, bosses, shopkeepers, and everything. This seems to be an interesting concept for the video game, and we cannot wait to see more details of the project.

I’m a solo game developer from Sweden. In 2017 I released Yono and the Celestial Elephants, a Zelda-like adventure about a young and naive elephant god. The time has finally come for my next big game, Molly Medusa: Queen of Spit, and this time we’re making full use of 3D space!
So far, we have two teasers released by the developer that you can check out below:
Both teasers are pretty small however we do get to see some of the in-game mechanics that will be featured in the game. The first teaser shows Molly using a grappling hook and walking vertically on pillars and the second teaser showcases an open setting where Molly is trying to push around a stone statue. There are some farm animals and NPCs around as well. The art style of the game looks pretty good for an animated game, and it looks inspired by early PS2 titles. Since the game is still in development, we can expect the full version to look different from the early teasers released by the developer.
Molly Medusa: Queen of Spit is slated for release exclusively on Nintendo Switch in spring 2023. At this point, the developer has not shared any further details about the game, however, with a spring 2023 release window, we can expect more details and information on the game to drop soon.
