Microsoft and Mojang have announced a brand new title Minecraft Earth which is developed to take you outside and merge your world with Minecraft. Jumping on the bandwagon of Pokémon Go and Jurassic World Alive, the latest game to get AR treatment is Minecraft as revealed today. It will feature all mechanics of the classic Minecraft game but obviously in AR.
The game will see you walking around in your local neighborhood collecting critters and blocks scattered around in the streets visible only to your smartphone. Once you have a decent collection, you can start putting down your own creations here and there in the real world and create your very own Minecraft world in real life.
The scale, however, could be massive in Minecraft AR but you can always check them on your app before putting them down. The basic formula in Minecraft AR is the same which is collect and build but this time around, you will be able to convert your school into a giant block castle or turn your local park into a nightmarish forest with critters roaming here and there.
The game will work in the same way as that of Pokémon Go or Jurassic World Alive. You will need an AR compatible smartphone with an active internet connection to sync with the backend servers. The game will require you actually moving around in the real world as well so if you skipped the previous two AR games just because of walking, you might want to skip this one too.
For fans of mobile AR games, Minecraft Earth appears to be a very promising title and if you love Minecraft as well, this is probably your wish come true. Now you can finally convert your school into a box playground or the local library into a creeper infested cave.

Minecraft Earth will release on iOS and Android AR devices with a closed beta this summer.
