Microsoft has acquired a number of game developers in order to introduce new games to the upcoming Xbox as well as the current Xbox One. Rumors have us believe that Crytek could be one of the developers that Microsoft acquires next. This could mean that we might get Ryse 2 in the future but there is no way of knowing for sure.
Microsoft needs first-party games in order to sell the upcoming Xbox Anaconda and Lockhart. It has got a couple of developers and it could be looking for some more. Crytek would be an impressive addition. The developer has been in trouble for a while now and getting Crytek would mean that Ryse 2 could happen in the future and Hunt: Showdown could be exclusive to Xbox.
Sony has won the console war this generation and that is mainly because of the poor marketing on Microsoft’s part when the Xbox One was launched. Other than that, PS4 had plenty of impressive exclusive games such as Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War. These are a few console sellers.
This is a rumor for now so do take it with a grain of salt. It is possible that Microsoft does not go with Crytek and that Ryse 2 is never made. That would be a bummer but it is what it is. Crytek has not made a lot of games since Ryse and buying the company would give Microsoft the CryEngine but that would mean making an enemy out of Epic Games. That would be very interesting indeed.
Microsoft has confirmed when its E3 conference is going to be and that it is going to go big this year. The company is also planning on introducing the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Subscription which we might be able to hear more about at E3 2019.
Let me know what you think about Microsoft buying Crytek and whether or not there is going to be any deal between the two.
