The Mad Box was just teased by Slightly Mad Studios CEO Ian Bell and he claimed that this would be the worlds most powerful console that will deliver not only VR support but 4K gaming as well. That sounds like a bit much but we have heard that the company is in talks with AMD and Nvidia in order to make that happen.
Bell revealed the first images of the Mad Box gaming console design and it is far from perfect. Keep in mind that these are initial designs and that the console is not due for a few years so there is a lot that can change.
Bell did say that he found the design a bit too much and that it will be toned down when the console is released. That is great to hear. There are a lot of LEDs and from what we can see it seems that the components are going to be liquid cooled. I could be wrong and those might be additional LEDs. The components have been blurred out so we have no idea what is going to power the Mad Box.
Bell also mentioned that he is talking to 5 companies to get stable and silent fans in order to keep the Mad Box cool. If this console is going to deliver 4K gaming then it is going to have some serious hardware as well and that hardware is going to need a lot of airflow. Bell did mention that the mockup was using 80mm fans but that is something that can easily be changed.
This is going to be a very tricky thing to figure out keeping in mind the studio does not have any experience when it comes to hardware.
