The iPhone XS Max is the new top of the line smartphone that Apple announced a while back and it seems that it is bursting into flames for no apparent reason. A man from Columbus claims that this phone caught fire while it was in his pocket at work. He was forced to go to another room and take off his pants because a female co-worker was in the same room.
The burning iPhone XS Max emitted a strange smell and green flames. There was a case on the device when it happened and the user did burn his skin in the process. All the shouting caught the attention of another coworker that got a fire extinguisher and dealt with the fire.
The man, Josh Hillard mentioned that he was not at all satisfied with the quality of customer service. He mentioned that he had to answer questions for 20 minutes and had to wait another 40 minutes at the store. At the end, he was told that the burned device needed to be shipped back and that was the only way he could get a new device.
He took the burned phone back and contacted Apple Care on the helpline. It was not until he followed up the next day that Apple offered to replace his device. By that time Hillard decided that Apple should be doing much more than just offering him a new phone and he is thinking about filing a lawsuit against the company. The following is what he had to say regarding the matter:
I was given no other option and was told that nothing could be done for me in store if they could not keep the damaged phone. I asked about my clothing and they told me that they could make no promises until the phone was captured. I left one hour before the store closed and unsatisfied with the customer service in store, I took back the damaged phone and returned home.
Apple has not commented on the matter but the iPhone XS Max user claims that he bought the device 3 weeks before the incident. We will keep you updated regarding the matter so stay tuned for more information.
