Ray-Series ININ Games

ININ Games has announced that it is teaming up with TAITO to bring back the iconic Ray-series of vertical shooters to the west. The collection will release both physically and digitally for Nintendo Switch and PS4 in 2023. The Ray-Series of vertical shooters is one of the most iconic franchises under TAITO and it was first introduced back in 1994. The very first title in the franchise was RayForce and it was released for the TAITO F3 arcade.

After RayForce’s release, the franchise quickly became one of the most popular arcade games of its time and outside Japan, it was known as Gunlock or Galactic Attack. Following its first release, the franchise received two sequels RayStorm and RayCrisis and both featured polygon-based 3D graphics instead of the sprite-based ones which were pretty common at that time. To celebrate the relaunch of this franchise, West will receive two special collections, and pre-orders for both of them will start soon.

ININ Games will release the collection ass RayStorm x RayCrisis HD Collection and it combines the best the Ray-series has to offer for shoot ‘em up fans around the world. The collection will cost $39.99 at launch, and it includes the original RayStorm and RayCrisis and their respective HD versions as well. This exclusive Western compilation will be launched both digitally and physically. Apart from this, ININ Games is also releasing the original Ray’z Arcade Chronology in the Western market for the first time ever.

This collection will add the very first title of the franchise RayForce as well and it will cost $49.99. The two collections are detailed below:

RayStorm x RayCrisis HD Collection (Digital and Physical Release)

  • RayStorm
  • RayStorm NEO HD
  • RayCrisis
  • RayCrisis HD

Ray’z Arcade Chronology (Digital Release Only)

All HD titles will feature HD graphics, an updated soundtrack, and additional features and gadgets for fans to explore. For the biggest fans of the franchise, Strictly Limited Games is giving the game its own flavor as well with a huge Collector’s Edition and Limited Edition for Ray’z Arcade Chronology which comes with several physical collectibles. It will also include the previously unreleased prototype ‘R-Gear’, the originally planned successor of RayForce.
