Horizon Forbidden West Gameplay

Guerrilla Games has just shown off the 14-minute Horizon Forbidden West gameplay video at the Sony State of Play event a few hours ago. This was the first unique look we have got so far, and it is already stunning and beautiful to watch.

Before we dive into the details, check out the Horizon Forbidden West gameplay footage below:

From new species of machine enemies to far more hostile human enemies called the Rebels, the game continues the story six months after the events of Horizon Zero Dawn. As Aloy continues to search for more answers by stepping into uncharted territories, she will get to meet new tribes and find out even more deadly machines. One such machine can be seen in the gameplay video where Aloy comes face to face with the Rebels and the huge mammoth-shaped machine called the Thermotusk.

The gameplay itself seems to be taken from a mission in the game, where Aloy has to rescue her old friend Erend, who was captured in his search for an important artifact. The new enemies called the Rebels can be seen taking advantage of various machines, thanks to the overriding feature, and using it to dominate over other factions.

While there are plenty of similarities in gameplay mechanics to visuals as compared to the first game, Horizon Forbidden West comes with a ton of new features, beautiful and upgraded visuals, and a ton of additional features, enemies, and machines yet to be discovered.

The gameplay footage shared some of these new features where we can see a wide array of new equipment Aloy now possesses. From the Pullcaster which works like a grappling hook to her Shieldwing glider that allows her to safely descend from great heights. In addition, she also has the Diving Mask which lets her breathe underwater, allowing the new underwater world which is begging to be explored. Aloy’s Focus device has also been upgraded which now shows areas of free climbing, and the ability to override more machines for mounts or to use in combat.

A majority of the gameplay footage was focused on combat, which comes with a lot of similarities with the first game that fans loved, but with new weapon types, throwables, and items. In addition, Aloy has learned a new set of combos with her trusty Spear, something that is going to add to the combat experience.

Horizon Forbidden West is setting up to be another highly anticipated title after the massive success of the first game in the series, Horizon Zero Dawn. While there is no confirmation of a release date, Guerrilla Games has set that the development is on track and that an update about it will be shared very soon.
