Ghost Recon Breakpoint Will Be Epic Games Exclusive, Not Available on Steam

Ghost Recon Breakpoint

Ghost Recon Breakpoint will launch as an Epic Games Exclusive, and will not be available through Steam. This is another indication of a strong partnership that Epic and Ubisoft are enjoying right now.

Much like Ubisoft’s recent releases like Anno 1800 and The Division 2, the new title in the Ghost Recon franchise will launch via the Epic Games Store for the PC players. However, it will also be available through Ubisoft’s over digital distribution service Uplay.

The reveal though would not come as a surprise to many who could have seen this coming from a mile away. Another reason why this wont be made a bigger deal is because this isn’t the first big title to come out exclusively from the Epic Game Store, as The Division 2 was also an Epic exclusive.

What would be interesting is to see how it impacts the sales on PC. Ghost Recon Wildlands, which is the previous title in the Ghost Recon series, has sold 15 million copies to day, including players who bought it via Steam.

If the sales number are not impressive, Ubisoft would be aware of the risk and would want to get more players using their own digital service Uplay. Another reasoning would be that Epic Games is offering them enough money up front that they are not concerned about the potential loss of PC sales.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint was just revealed yesterday as a new tactical shooter game. The new title in the Ghost Recon series is set to launch this year on October 8, 2019. Ghost Recon Breakpoint will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC when it launches worldwide.
