George RR Martin who is well known for being the creator of Game of Thrones has said that a game might be in development by FromSoftware. Game of Thrones is an epic TV show, which is based on the books of A Song of Ice and Fire series written by Martin himself.
George has said in a blog post of his official website that he has “consulted on a video game out of Japan.” He also discussed his projects following the end of the show, including a producer credit on eight upcoming TV shows, short film adaptations, and involvement on some feature-length projects.
Earlier this year, a YouTube channel Spawn Wave stated that the Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin was working in collaboration with Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice developer FromSoftware on a new projects of sorts. Many speculated the rumor as too good to be true, however with George’s recent statement in the blog post, it may seem highly likely that a game would be in the works.
This, of course, doesn’t confirm if Martin has indeed talked about development with From Software. If FromSoftware has anything to do with it, it will definitely be shown at this years E3 2019. The game has reportedly been in development for three years, and is an open-world title featuring horse-riding. In addition, Hidetaka Miyazaki is also working on the title with Martin.
There can be many possibilities on the plot of the game considering the several stories that are in the Game of Thrones Universe. The game might feature the current events of the Game of Thrones plot, or can wander off in the past when the Targaryens used to reign Westeros with their dragons in Valyria.
Another possibility can be the events that take place way before the Targaryens, with the first men who came to Westeros and had to invade the land which inhabited the Children of the Forest. With many possibilities, we can only wait for it to be revealed soon. It will also be interesting to see how FromSoftware develops the game with said stories.
