Giants Software has announced that they are starting the first Farming Simulator League which is going to be a pro league and the winner is going to get €250,000 in prize.
This is the first eSports league of this nature and it looks like Giants Software is not going small with this one either. The prize pool is absolutely huge. You might not know but four different Farming Simulator tournaments were held in 2018 but their prize pool was not this big. These were small level tournaments but still the developers saw potential in them.
Farming Simulator League is a professional eSports league however and it will host a total of 10 tournaments across Europe and the winner will go home with a very hefty bank account. Each tournament event will be 3v3 competition in a brand new game mode which is not present in the base game.
Players and winners in each event in the tournament will earn prizes and points which will lead them to the finale which will give the winning team €100,000. Giants Software has teamed up with some of very big names in the industry such as Logitech, Intel and noblechairs while Nitrado will handle hosting and streaming.
Giants CEO Christian Ammann’s official words were
Competitive farming is something people enjoy for years now, but it hasn’t been done in esports so far. We have lots of esports enthusiasts in our company who can’t wait to show the world that farming can indeed be fun and competitive at the same time. We believe we found the right mix of real farming and fun to play game elements to ensure everyone will find it entertaining.
The developer will reveal more information about the league in the coming future and they have very high hopes that this event is going to be a very big event. The healthy prize pool is sure to attract a lot of players to the league even if they are not a Pro Farming Simulator player which is a good thing.
Overall, jumping into eSports will surely give Farming Simulator brand a serious boost and it will attract many new players to the game. Very few take Farming Simulator games seriously but with this professional eSports league, Giants Software is showing the world that Farming is a serious and fun business.
