Our tests show that at 1440p the game uses 3 GB of VRAM on the low preset. At 1440p low settings, the used VRAM drops down to 2.33 GB. When playing the game at 1080p ultra settings, the game uses 2.69 GB of VRAM. At 1080p low settings, the game uses 2 GB of VRAM. This is something that you will need to keep in mind if you have an older card and limited VRAM.

Far Cry New Dawn PC Optimization Settings

Here we are going to look into the different settings that you can change in order to get better performance in Far Cry New Dawn.

Adaptive Resolution: You can find this option in the Advanced Settings menu. You can set this to off, which is the default setting or you can set this to 30 FPS or 60 FPS. This will stop the game from dropping below the desired FPS number but it will impact image quality.

Enable Frame Rate Lock: If you do not want to reduce image quality and have better hardware then this can lock the FPS anywhere between 30 and 144. This will keep the graphics card from pushing too many frames to your display.

Preset Performance Cost Low to Ultra: Turning down the presets from ultra to low will give you a 27% boost in performance.

Texture: Lowing the texture only gives you a 1% performance bump.

Shadows: Turning down this setting gives you a boost in performance of 3%.

Vegetation: Reducing this setting can increase performance by up to 9%.

Environment: Turning down this setting will increase FPS by 7%.

Water: Reducing the water quality will give you a slight boost in performance of 1.5%.

Terrain: Changing this setting did not result in any benefits for us but your mileage may vary.

Volumetric fog: Turning down this setting gives a minor boost in performance of 0.5% FPS.

Anti-Aliasing: Changing this setting can give you a performance boost of 3%.

Motion Blur: Motion blur impacts performance by 0.2%.
