Apple has announced several new products at the Time Flies event which took place yesterday at Apple Part. The event saw Apple announce a handful of new products with significant upgrades which include the new Apple Watch series, iPads, and more. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the whole event took place online.
In their Time Flies event, Apple announced some major upgrades to their existing product lines. The company announced the new Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE, iPad 8th Generation, and iPad Air 4. The company also announced new apps and software to go with its products. First comes the Apple Watch Series.
Apple has upgraded its wearable with new sensors while keeping the same design and form factor. The Apple Watch still has the design and shape of its predecessor but the new sensors allow it to measure Blood Oxygen level, VO2 Max, and more. The Series 6 Apple Watches are powered by the dual-core S6 processor which is based on the A13 Bionic chip that powers the iPhone.
The Apple Watch Series 6 also offers new watch faces like the Chronograph Pro, GMT watch face, and many more. Apple has also announced a new Watch Band for their watches called the Solo Loop that does not feature a buckle or a hoop. Apple Watch Series 6 is available starting today for $399 for 40mm and is available in a new Graphite finish with a Blue aluminum finish and PRODUCT RED series Red.
Apple has also released The Apple Watch SE which is Apple’s budget watch offering. The SE watch series includes two models, one GPS and one Cellular. The Apple Watch SE features the S5 chip inside which is twice as fast as the Apple Watch Series 3. The SE version doesn’t have health sensors like ECG and Blood Oxygen Monitor. The Apple Watch SE is available at $279 and it is available to order today and will ship by Friday.
Apple has also announced the iPad 8 powered by the A12 Bionic chip. It comes with Apple Pencil support and 10 hours of battery life. Design-wise, there are not many changes. iPad 8 features a 12.2-inch, 60 Hz LCD display. It still has the home button which houses the Touch ID. Charging is done through Apple’s own Lightning Port and not USB-C. iPad 8 features an 8MP FaceTime camera. The iPad 8 starts at $329 for the base model and $299 for students.
Apple also introduced the iPad Air 4 which was the highlight product of Apple’s launch event. For the first time ever, Apple has incorporated Touch ID in the power button on an iPad. iPad Air 4 has a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display. This iPad is powered by Apple’s latest A14 Bionic chip with 11.8 billion transistors, a new 6-core CPU, and a 4-core GOU coupled with a 16-core Neural Engine. The iPad Air 4 is available in four color options, Blue, Green, Silver, and Pink, and is available for $599 starting today.
Apple also announced its newest all in one subscription service called Apple One at the Time Flies event which allows users to pay less for Apple services collectively. There are three different plans to choose from with different services. Apple also announced the Fitness+ app which is available with the Apple Watch and pairs with the iPhone and Apple TV to playback workout videos. It is the entire package and offers smarter and personalized workouts.
