Disney has announced that it is launching its own premium streaming service called Disney Plus in November and it will provide access to all Disney content. This service is exactly similar to Netflix, HBO GO or CBS All Access. It was only a matter of time Disney jumped into this business because nearly all other major companies already have their own streaming services in the market.
When directly compared with other streaming services, Disney Plus is very aggressively priced at $6.99 per month. Annual subscriptions will set you back $69.99. It is much cheaper, especially when compared to Netflix. 4K streaming in Netflix will set you back $15.99 per month. Disney is also aiming for more platforms than Netflix.
It will be available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Chromecast, Apple TV, Roku, smart TVs, mobile and desktop devices. Netflix is not available on Nintendo Switch and Switch is currently the most selling console in the world which will give Disney a serious head start in this segment unless Netflix arrives on it before November.
Disney plans to release it first in the USA and a global release will follow later. It will expand to other countries slowly. At this point, the plan is to launch Disney Plus in all major regions within the next two years. More details on this will be released later.
Disney Plus will feature the entire Disney and Pixar motion library and they will be added to the service within one year of its release. Some live-action movies will also be part of the service at launch and more will be added in the future. Netflix will get to keep the Marvel movies for now however in the future, they might be removed from all services and will only be available through Disney Plus.

Fans will find their favorite Disney franchises on the service which include Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars. Disney plans to add some Pixar shorts within one year as well. Just like Netflix, Disney also plans to release exclusive movies and seasons on its service. Since Disney owns National Geographic, its seasons and documentaries will also be available with the service.
You can check out more details about the service on the official Walt Disney website. Disney Plus is launching in the USA on November 12, 2019. More details about the service will be revealed in the coming days.
