Developer of The Surge, Deck13, has now been acquired by Focus Home Interactive for $7.9 million. The deal will see the full control of the German studio and owning all the IPs. The announcement was made by the French publisher in its latest press release.

Deck13 has been a partner of Focus Home Interactive for a long-time, and since its inception in 2001 has seen the team grow to 60 highly skilled workers. The developer is known for titles such as The Surge, and Lords of the Fallen. The Surge was published by Focus Home Interactive, which shows that both parties are no strangers to each other.

Both parties released a short statement regarding the acquisition, beginning with the chairman of Focus Home Interactive, Juergen Goeldner.

We are very happy to welcome the team of Deck13 and look forward to working together to achieve our ambitious objectives. This acquisition marks a major milestone in our growth story and will strengthen our business model.

On the other hand, managing director and co-founder of Deck13, Jan Klose, also had a few words to share.

I am delighted to announce that Deck13 is now part of Focus Home Interactive. Our companies have been working together successfully since 2011, developing award-winning brands such as The Surge. We are looking forward to leveraging the incredible capabilities of Focus Home Interactive to develop new successes.

This is the first such move by Focus Home Interactive by acquiring a developer studio. If the trend continues, we might see more acquisitions in the near future. The publisher has released some really good games over the years that include the very popular Greedfall action RPG game released last year, and the most recent A Plague Tale: Innocence. It is also known for titles its 2018 titles like Vampyr, Call of Cthulhu, and Insurgency: Sandstorm.
