A new video of Death Stranding has been released that shows Heartman as a new character in the game. Heartman is portrayed by Nicholas Winding Refn, and talks about how he lives for a short period, and then dies. Only to return back to life again and repeat the cycle.
Take a look at the video featuring Heartman in Death Stranding:
We can see Heartman being brought back to life with some sort of defibrillating contraption that he is wearing on his chest. This machine is presumably to bring him back to life after he spends a couple of minutes in the world of the dead.
Heartman is then seen talking to Sam (Norman Reedus) who tells him how he dies after every 21 minutes, spends 3 minutes in the land of the dead, and is then brought back to life all over again. He also goes on to say that he has done this over 218,000 times, trying to search for his family on the other side and to understand reality.
It seems that Sam will be looking for some answers in the game, for which he will have to visit Heartman. His role in explaining the other world to Sam is going to play an important role in bridging the gap to where Sam may want to be heading. Nonetheless, the game’s story is still kept largely a secret, and trailers released produce all sort of predictions and rumors.
Death Stranding is releasing this year on November 8th, 2019, so we may be receiving lots of details and information in between. The game is going to be PlayStation 4 exclusive and is the first game by Hideo Kojima after his departure from Konami.
