Game delays are not a new thing and many developers often delay their titles due to several reasons. Recently, Team Ninja has announced that Dead or Alive 6 has been delayed by two weeks and will now launch in March 2019.
The original launch date for Dead or Alive 6 was February 15 but now it has been pushed into March. There could be several reasons behind this delay but Team Ninja states that they have delayed the title two weeks because they need more time to ‘further enhance and balance’ the game.
Another reason behind this delay could be that Team Ninja wants to give Dead or Alive 6 a little breathing room because on the same date three other big games are also coming out. These titles include another fighting game Jump Force which is getting a lot of traction these days. It is a manga/anime featured fighting game.
Other titles slated to release on February 15 are Far Cry New Dawn and Xbox and PC exclusive Crackdown 3. These all are big games so it was best for Team Ninja to delay the title a bit and release it in March even if the title was completely ready to roll out.
Launching a title is such traffic can only lead to slower sales as expected and no developer wants that to happen. The last title Dead or Alive 5 was a good title and we are looking forward to see the next title in the franchise and how it keeps the spirit of the Dead or Alive franchise alive.
Yohei Shimbori announced about the delay and he also apologized to fans of the game by saying that he is sorry for the:
inconvenience caused. The title’s development is already near complete; however, we would like to take more time to further polish its balance, gameplay, and expressivity. In return for your patience, we commit to bringing you the best Dead or Alive gaming experience.
Delaying a title by two weeks is nothing. It is always better to release a completely polished product so that it does not ruin players’ initial impressions of the game. A buggy game can always be fixed later but it is very hard to attract angry fan base back to the game.
