Darius Cozmic Collections

TAITO Corporation and ININ Games have announced that its huge collection of classic shoot-em-games Darius Cozmic Collections is heading to Nintendo Switch and PS4. As part of the new release, both Darius Cozmic Collection Console and Darius Cozmic Collection Arcade will release on both Nintendo Switch and PS4 on June 16, 2020. Both of the collections will release digitally on Nintendo eShop and PSN.

Developed by the legendary TAITO Corporation, the Darius series pioneered horizontal Shoot ‘Em Up games and the first Darius game was loved by its fans back in 1986. It featured a dedicated dual-display cabinet, imaginative enemy designs, and evolutionary sound design for its time. The very first Darius was set in a futuristic world where the players pilot a Silver Hawk craft solo or with a second player.

They had to shoot their through enemy hordes while navigating tricky terrains and battling giant robot sea creatures as bosses. The spacecraft came armed with missiles, bombs, and a forcefield which can be powered up as they progressed in the level. It received numerous sequels over the years and each one was better than the last one. This certainly represents the 2D classic history of the iconic Shoot ‘em up genre.
