Activision unveiled the brand-new co-op mode Zombies Onslaught from its upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War and it is a 12-month PS exclusive. Zombies Onslaught is a separate mode from the game’s main Zombies mode which is called Die Maschine which will launch on all platforms right from the start. However, Zombies Onslaught will stay on PS platforms for a year, after which it will release on other platforms as well.

As described by Activision, Zombies Onslaught is a two-player, fast-paced Zombies experience that will allow you and another player to investigate anomalies while stuck inside a barrier where never-ending zombie waves will attack you. These maps will be based on the various Multiplayer maps already present in the game and you will drop in with your custom loadouts. These are the same loadouts that you will be taking in the normal Zombies or Multiplayer mode.
After dropping in, the zombie waves will begin, and the Dark Aether Orb will confine your team inside a specific space on the map where the zombies will start to spawn. You will have to kill these zombies and power the Orb. Once enough zombies are killed, the Orb will be powered up and it will shift to a new zone where you will move alongside it as well. Going outside this zone will cause damage and ultimately death so you and your teammate will need to stick inside this zone in order to survive.
Your main target in these fights is the Elites because killing Elites allow you to get Bronze, Silver, and Gold ranking. The more Elites you kill, the higher ranking you get at the end of the level. Reaching specific ranks will allow you to unlock additional useful rewards that you can use across the entire game that includes the normal Zombies mode and Multiplayer. Every season will also add new maps and rewards for the PS4 and PS5 players.
The Zombies Onslaught mode will remain exclusive for the PS platforms for one year and will finally release on Xbox and PC platforms next year.
