Avengers: Endgame Massive Weekend

Avengers: Endgame released worldwide in theatres on this weekend and broke the worldwide record for the first weekend with a massive 1.2 billion. This makes it the first movie to touch the 1 billion mark in its first opening weekend and it is a very big achievement for the movie. Its predecessor, Avengers: Infinity War also set a new world record of touching 1 billion in 11 days.

This was announced by Disney today when it stated that Avengers: Endgame has earned $1.209 billion worldwide in its opening weekend worldwide. This has set a brand new record as no movie has ever touched the 1 billion mark this quickly in history. This amount has been amounted by considering all the foreign and worldwide debuts which include the premiere in China.

According to Disney’s statement, the detailed stats for Avengers: Endgame until now are:

  • Domestic gross: $350 million (overtaking 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War at $257.6 million).
  • International gross: $859 million. (smashing 2017’s The Fate of the Furious, which earned $443.1 million in non-U.S. ticket sales).
  • Domestic single-day gross: $156.7 million, on Friday.
  • Domestic Saturday gross: $109 million (the first $100 million day without previews).
  • Domestic Sunday gross: $84.3 million.
  • Opening day, China: $107.8 million.
  • Opening weekend, China: $330.5 million.
  • Fastest movie to $1 billion (worldwide): Five days.
  • Biggest IMAX global debut: $91.5 million.
  • Eighth Marvel Studios movie to earn $1 billion. (This year’s Captain Marvel was the seventh.)

Alan Horn, who is the chairman of Walt Disney stated in a press release:

Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios team have continued to challenge notions of what is possible at the movie theatre both in terms of storytelling and at the box office. Though Endgame is far from an end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these first 22 films constitute a sprawling achievement, and this weekend’s monumental success is a testament to the world they’ve envisioned, the talent involved, and their collective passion, matched by the irrepressible enthusiasm of fans around the world.
