Analgesic Productions has announced that their upcoming 2D/3D adventure game Anodyne 2: Return to Dust is finally releasing on August 12, 2019. Players will be able to purchase the follow-up to the 2013’s standout adventure for $19.99 on Steam, Kartridge, GoG, Itch and Humble Store. Anodyne 2: Return to Dust is a PC exclusive title however it will release on Windows, Linux, and Mac.
Anodyne 2: Return to Dust is a unique game which combines the 2D and 3D playing mechanics into a single thrilling and cinematic adventure. The game features the thrilling scale of 3D games and the tight design and easy-to-pick-up satisfaction of 2D titles such as the classic Zelda games. Both modes are seamless and are transitioned into each other using colorful vignette effects.
Players step in the shoes of Nova who is a Nano Cleaner on New Theland. Nano Dust is infecting New Theland and Nova must seek out the infected and clean the infections from inside them. Literally. The game plays out in normal 3D mode while Nova is exploring the world and interacting with people however when it comes to cleaning up Nano Dust from within the infected, the game turns 2D.

Anodyne 2 features a very unique art which reminds us of the classic PS1 and N64 era where we had lo-fi visuals. Players will get to meet a lot of unique characters as they explore New Theland and they do not even have to do on foot. Nova can turn into a vehicle at the touch of a button and she can pick up the pack quickly.

Players do not have to play the first game in order to understand the story of Anodyne 2 however the developer reckons that fans of the franchise who did play the first game will certainly find a lot of references to the original game as they explore the snowy aurora-lit valleys to perilous construction sites of New Theland.
