AMD Ryzen mini PCs are not common these days but that could change in the near future keeping in mind how much power these chips can provide compared to the price. The graphics card is based on AMD Vega and is able to provide much better performance than Intel integrated graphics. All this makes the AMD Ryzen great value for money for a mini PC.
Here we have an AMD Ryzen mini PC from ECS Elite Group that is only 1.2 liters. The dimensions are 205 × 176 × 33 mm. While the mini PC is a bit wide, it is still pretty sleek and small. It only consumes 35W so the efficiency is pretty great. There are plenty of configuration options as well. There are 2 DIMM slots so you can have up to 64 GB of 2400 MHz RAM installed in the AMD Ryzen mini PC.
Other than that, you have the choice of going with an AMD Ryzen 3 or AMD Ryzen 5 chip. The official specifications mentioned AMD Ryzen 7 but that seems to be a typo. You can install an M.2 2280 SSD and the PC also supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. The whole system is powered by a 90W power supply so the electric bill is not going to be a major concern.
The ports selection includes VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort, COM serial port (optional), two 3.5mm audio jacks, six USB 3.1 Type-A ports and a single USB 3.1 Type-C port. The Type-C port does not seem to support Thunderbolt 3 otherwise you could have used an external GPU to get even better graphics performance for gaming. At CES 2019, AMD released the new AMD Radeon VII graphics card and also gave us a short demo of the upcoming AMD Ryzen 3000 series processors that are going to be coming out later this year. It will be interesting to see what kind of performance these upcoming chips will have to offer as compared to the current ones and the competition.
