AMD has already released the AMD Radeon VII graphics card at CES 2019. CEO Lisa Su has already confirmed that this is not the only technology coming out this year and that there is more in the works.
AMD CEO Lisa Su has also mentioned that the company is working on ray tracing technology. Lisa Su mentioned that ray tracing is an important feature to have and that the company is working on it. She also mentioned that there are other important technologies as well and that AMD will be introducing an entire ecosystem. The following is what she had to say in this regard:
I’m not going to get into a tit for tat, that’s just not my style. So I’ll tell you that. What I will say is ray tracing is an important technology. It’s one of the important technologies; there are lots of other important technologies and you will hear more about what we’re doing with ray tracing. You know, we certainly have a lot going on, both hardware and software, as we bring up that entire ecosystem.
She mentioned that the consumer will not see the advantage of ray tracing if other aspects of the technology are not ready. She mentioned that by the time AMD talks about ray tracing, the rest of the technology will have developed and that the consumer will see the benefits.
Nvidia has opened up to FreeSync and Lisa Su commented on the matter. She mentioned that this choice was made a few years back and now that others are adopting the same, it only makes it clear that it was indeed the right move to make.
