KOEI TECMO and Team NINJA have revealed planned gameplay and performance improvements for Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember following feedback from the game’s September 2026 alpha demo. The developers intend to refine combat mechanics, rebalance key systems, and improve optimization ahead of the action RPG’s launch on March 4, 2027.
The alpha demo ran from September 16 to 30, giving players an early look at the open field of Changban, where they fought alongside Liu Bei’s army against the pursuing forces of Cao Cao. Following the demo, players were invited to complete a survey, with the results informing the development team’s plans for the full release.
One of the main areas targeted for improvement is the Insight Skill system, whose complexity and success detection will be addressed. Team NINJA also plans to rebalance the Spirit system’s gains and losses, while strengthening Martial Arts and Wizardry Spells.
These adjustments are intended to give players greater freedom in combat and encourage a more aggressive approach to battles. The changes suggest the developers are looking to refine how players manage resources and use their available abilities during encounters.
Performance is another focus of the planned updates. KOEI TECMO says the team will work on optimization, including graphical improvements and faster loading times. The full findings and planned changes are detailed in the official Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember Alpha Demo Feedback Report.
Alongside the feedback report, pre-orders are now available for the Standard and Digital Deluxe editions, as well as physical editions. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes the base game, Season Pass, Season Pass Bonus: Creator God Armor Set, digital artbook, digital mini soundtrack, and Shitieshou Hat.
Players who purchase any physical or digital edition will receive the Harvest God Armor Set as an early purchase bonus. Those who pre-order a digital edition by March 4, 2027, will also receive the Creator Goddess Garb set.
Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember launches on March 4, 2027, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox on PC, and Steam. The game will also be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. It will feature Japanese and English voice options, with text support for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
