SNK has announced that NINJA MASTER’S, its 1996 arcade fighting game, is heading to Steam as part of the NEOGEO Premium Selection label, a collection of classic NEOGEO titles updated with modern features. The game is now available to wishlist, priced at $19.99.
Originally released in arcades, NINJA MASTER’S is a 2D fighter set in Jipangu, a fictional land inspired by feudal Japan. Twelve playable warriors, including boss characters Ranmaru and Nobunaga, come with their own weapons and a unique mechanic that lets players switch between armed and unarmed combat on the fly. Multiple combo routes per character give the game enough depth to reward both casual players and those looking to dig into its systems.
The Steam release brings the game up to speed with several modern additions. Online matches will benefit from rollback netcode, while a Practice Mode with adjustable speed caters to players who want to work on their combos. Time Attack Mode adds another way to test your skills outside of standard matches. Online lobbies support up to nine players, and a dedicated Tournament Mode offers Single Elimination, Double Elimination, and League formats for those looking to run organized competitions. An Achievements system also lets players unlock and collect icons as they play.
SNK was founded in 1978 in Osaka, Japan, and it is the studio behind some of the most recognizable fighting game franchises in the genre’s history, including THE KING OF FIGHTERS, SAMURAI SHODOWN, METAL SLUG, and FATAL FURY. NINJA MASTER’S joins a growing lineup of classic titles being revived under the NEOGEO Premium Selection label for modern platforms. Players looking forward to playing NINJA MASTER’S can head over to the game’s official Steam page and add it to their wishlist.
