KOEI TECMO and developer Team Ninja have announced a crossover update for DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round, confirming that fan-favorite characters Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond from The King of Fighters XIV will join the roster as post-launch DLC. The enhanced edition is set to launch on June 25, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The returning collaboration fighters originally appeared in DEAD OR ALIVE back in 2019, and their comeback in Last Round marks a continuation of the long-running crossover relationship between SNK and Koei Tecmo. Both Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond will be available at launch as downloadable content, alongside a themed costume set that includes five additional outfits designed to complement their signature styles.
Beyond character additions, DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round introduces a newly enhanced version of the LOST PARADISE stage, now titled “OBORO.” This update leverages the developer’s proprietary KATANA ENGINE to deliver improved lighting and environmental detail. The new OBORO lighting system focuses on more natural ambient illumination and dynamic shadows, aiming to modernize the visual presentation across multiple stages, with further updates planned post-launch.
As the definitive edition of DEAD OR ALIVE 6, this release builds upon the original 2019 title, which sold over 900,000 copies worldwide. The base roster includes the original 24 fighters, along with five additional DLC characters, Nyotengu, Phase 4, Momiji, Rachel, and Tamaki, bringing a more complete lineup to modern platforms. Returning characters like Kasumi and Marie Rose will also receive new crossover-inspired costumes drawn from other Team Ninja franchises.
In addition to visual and roster upgrades, Last Round retains core features such as Photo Mode and online hubs like “DOA Quest” and “DOA Central,” reinforcing its focus on both competitive and community-driven play. A free-to-play version, DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Last Round Core Fighters, will launch alongside the full game, offering a smaller selection of characters, including Marie Rose, Honoka, and NiCO, along with additional features such as Photo Mode and online modes.
KOIE TECMO has also detailed that the Costume Set will include the Happy Wedding Costume, Pirates of the 7 Seas Costume, Nurse Costume, Maid Costume, and Sexy Bunny Costume. Apart from this, additional DLC characters such as Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond will be available to purchase separately, and if players own them in the original Dead or Alive 6, the progress will not carry over to DEAD OR ALIVE Last Round.
