After the successful release of Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Koei Tecmo has announced that their next title is Romance of the Three Kingdoms 14. Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a very old franchise in Koei Tecmo’s library and it started way back in 1985 with the release of the first Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The first game was released on PC and NES which just shows how much this franchise has seen in terms of platform advancements.
The newly announced title is the 14th installment in the franchise and 13 games in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms have been released prior to this one. The last title in the franchise was Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII and it was released back in 2016 on all major gaming platforms. It was even released later on portable consoles Nintendo Switch and PS Vita in 2017. Coming to core gameplay, Romance of the Three Kingdoms games are essentially turn-based strategy titles.
Each new title in the franchise has improved in the game mechanics making the game better in every way and so far this will be the most advanced title in the franchise of the game. It will ship with much more detailed gameplay mechanics and a much better and improved AI than the previous title allowing for much more realistic gameplay and deeper strategy formulations when going against them.

The trailer is basically a recap of the entire franchise and does not tell us much about the upcoming title. At this point, Koei Tecmo has announced that the game is slated for release in Spring 2020 which means that we will get to know more about the game pretty soon. Some details revealed about the game include that Romance of the Three Kingdoms 14 is set in Ancient China during the fall of the infamous Han Dynasty.
The core formula behind the game remains the same which sees players engaging in wars with other major players on the map. Players will also have the option to form diplomatic relations with other players and manage their own lands as they try to survive in unforgiving China. The developer also promises that the new game will feature a much more evolved AI compared to older games in the franchise.
