Liquid Sword was formed by Christofer Sundberg and comprises a senior team that has worked on many AAA titles, such as Just Cause and Mad Max, in the past. Christofer himself is the creator of the Just Cause franchise and founded Avalanche Studios. The new studio is backed by NetEase Games along with private investors. The team boasts years of development experience in combat systems, animations, and action-driven narrative games.
Samson: A Tyndalston Story Launch Trailer Arrives Just in Time for Release
Samson: A Tyndalston Story features Samson McCay, who has arrived back in Tyndalston after spending time in jail. The city is not the same anymore and has been taken over by a new designer drug called White Whisper. Samson finds himself in a debt that never becomes low, and his sister is being used as leverage by the very people he owes money to. The game features a unique debt system and combat system.
Every day in the game, the debt is compounded for the time during which you are not working. There are no guns in the game, and the only combat action is through melee fight sequences. Players will rely on their fists, elbows, improvised blunt objects, or anything else that they can find around themselves. According to the developer, combat is heavily inspired by titles like Sifu, Sleeping Dogs, and The Warriors.
While Samson is not beating the bad guys with his fists and elbows, he is driving around the city, using his car, known as the Magnum Opus, and using it as a blunt weapon. It features part-based damage, real physics, and vehicular combat sections, similar to what players saw in the Just Cause franchise. The city itself remembers every event that takes place in it. Major events like faction shifts, betrayals, and player choices will affect how things work.
Samson: A Tyndalston Story is now available on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store for $24.99. As of now, there is no word of a possible console release, but if something comes up, we will definitely be reporting it here, so make sure to check back soon.
